The construction and tunneling for the Melbourne Metro Rail will soon begin in South Kensington. The project is governed by the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA). The work and will take five to six years but already the MMRA processes are failing Kensington residents. There are serious unresolved issues around traffic management, safety, pollution controls,the relocation of high voltage electrical towers and the failure to address the need for an upgrade of South Kensington Station. The Kensington Association has formed an action group to help inform residents, advocate on behalf of our community to ensure local amenity is protected during the long construction process.
